A stylish newcomer arrived at Altrincham Market recently - emslie. Owner Lucy sells all things contemporary for the home and more besides. The range is certainly eclectic. A selection of found furniture featuring Mid Century British and Scandinavian design includes the on trend Ercol. Amongst the homeware range are vintage Shelley, Poole and mid-century West German ceramics. Whilst the kitchen range features the iconic blue and white Falcon enamel range. There are lots of quirky offerings too including this dinky elephant money bank. These were originally produced as promotional items for a German bank Dresdner Bank/Commerzbank in 1963 and have since become something of a classic They were made in various sizes and colours
So Altrincham is delighted to see that the sensational beard oil produced by Broadheath based Cocoon Therapies is also there!
Lucy had the idea for the store on a beach - well in the water -on the Thai island of Ko Kut. She was taking a career break from the London art world and taking the time to travel. Thoughts and ideas were brewed and stewed under the Asian sun. With a background in contemporary art and an obsession with buying, a lifestyle store seemed like an obvious career move. Emslie was born!
Based in Stockport, South Manchester, Lucy is building up her stock, gaining new brands and building the perfect brand to bring to markets like Altrincham.
