Il Destino comes to the Garrick
For one night only Jon Christos and Adam Lacey, the internationally acclaimed and award winning classical crossover duo, Il Destino, bring their superb show 'Broadway and Beyond' to the Altrincham Garrick. The event, on Sunday the 4th June at 7.30pm, is in support of The Fitzroy Charity, which supports people with learning difficulties. This production is and has something for everyone. It takes the audience on a journey from operatic classics such as Nessun Dorma and O Solé Mio to musical theatre favourites such as ‘Bring Him Home’ and ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from ‘Les Misérables’. There are also hit songs from other West End productions and iconic classical crossover and rock and pop hits from groups such as The Moody Blues, Take That, Simon and Garfunkel and The Righteous Brothers plus plenty more.
The Fitzroy charity was established in 1962 and its mission is to support children and young adults with learning disabilities to do the simple things that make a real difference to their everyday lives. The aim of this performance is to raise enough funds to assist in purchasing a floor projector for their sensory room.
‘We’re just so happy to be involved,’ says Christos. ‘This fantastic, fun piece of technology projects interactive slides, including games and music applications, across the floor or onto a wheelchair tray. It can be used by ndividuals or as a group and will really help those with autism.’
Joining Il Destino on stage will be members of Cheshire's Opera Britain Youth Chorus along with members of the phenomenonal Rock Choir, plus, as special guest support, local rising star soprano Scarlett Quigley who has gained a reputation as one of the finest young talents of her generation.
Dawn Ward, of Real Housewives of Cheshire is a fan. ‘‘I think it's amazing what the boys are doing for Fitzroy. I'm proud to help them by supporting and asking everyone to come along to what's going to be a brilliant show and hopefully raise the amount they need.’
