Creatives Meet Up!
It’s great to see this lovely event at Altrincham Town Hall again. I hope the visitors meet some of our own local talent there!
Altrincham and the surrounding area is becoming a recognised creative and artistic centre and the collage above shows just a few of those who have been feature on So Altrincham over the last few months including jewellery from Made By Dea, handmade accessories from Leather & Thread, Jane Mitchell’s gorgeous designs on silk, Catherine Mahe fused glass and the Art Fox from Hidden Altrincham Art Festival.
During our interviews with local artists and makers we have noticed that many of them feel quite isolated and would welcome the opportunity to share ideas about their work and how to promote it. Developing a business requires such a mixture of skills and knowledge and it’s a steep learning curve for many of us!
With this in mind, we are offering a Creative Meet Up from 6.30 – 8pm on the 24th May at Open Studios in Altrincham. The aim is to bring together creatives and makers for informal networking and to hear some great ideas about taking their business to the next stage.
The first session will include a presentation on 'Building a Brand' from Simon Glenday of Leather & Thread. Simon is a leather artisan creating high quality wallets and accessories in his workshop in Timperley. He is uniquely qualified to share his knowledge of building a brand with other creatives and small businesses. Before establishing his leather business, Simon worked as an account manager in marketing and advertising agencies in the UK and Australia. He is still very much a marketing man and is creating a Leather & Thread brand with strong brand values of authenticity and quality.
Come along and share your ideas over a glass of wine.
