Rose and Grey
Altrincham furniture retailer Rose and Grey was originally conceived as an online business by local couple, Lyndsey and Guy Goodger. The business was established nine years ago after Lyndsey saw a vintage leather sofa at a trade fair and decided that she could sell them online. Stylish, authentic and designed to last, the sofas are still a feature of the collection which has now expanded to include a wide range of furniture and accessories that mix contemporary design with vintage chic to create exciting but liveable interiors.
We all like the convenience of online shopping but sometimes you do want to sit on a chair before you buy it don’t you? Recognising this, the couple opened a showroom on Atlantic Street in Broadheath a few months ago. You can’t miss it - the outside is painted navy blue! Slow down as you approach so you don’t miss the entrance to the car park at the back. The showroom is proving very popular with customers. Recently a couple on the way from London to the Lakes made a detour to sit on a sofa that they had seen online before purchasing.
Rose and Grey is a treasure trove of quirky smaller items as well as the larger pieces. Some of the best sellers are those accessories that help to create the feeling of hygge that we love so much – lamps, candles, cushions and throws. So Altrincham has always been a bit sniffy about artificial flowers but was completely converted by the gorgeous flowers in the showroom by Abigail Ahern – the Coco Chanel of faux flowers. Faux Christmas decorations by local florist www.chloerobinsondesigns.com were no less beautiful.
The new 2017 collection will focus on Mid Century Modern style with a quintessential Rose & Grey twist. The current interest in mid-century and Scandinavian influenced design continues, with natural wood, cork and marble. Next season will feature lots of rich colours including mustard, paprika, olive green and sky blue.
Velvet sofas are a feature of the current collection. There are three different styles of sofa that are available in four colours of sumptuous velvet (Rose and Grey’s signature mustard, midnight blue, emerald green and grey). Rose and Grey will also be stocking a range from Polish chair manufacturer, 366 Concept, who are reviving iconic Polish designs from the sixties. Their wooden framed easy chairs are upholstered in velvet, wool and denim.
The showroom is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am until 5pm and on Sundays by appointment. It is closed on Mondays. If I were you, I would visit the showroom just to have a look at those gorgeous velvet sofas but you can also see more at www.roseandgrey.co.uk
